Bagni San Filippo
Bagni San Filippo is a charming Tuscan village celebrated for its thermal waters, which have been appreciated since Roman times. The main attraction is the 'Fosso Bianco' (White Moat), a stream in the woods where calcium carbonate deposits from the hot springs have formed spectacular white formations, waterfalls, and natural pools. The most famous of these is the 'Balena Bianca' (White Whale), a massive and striking limestone monument. While the village itself is small and doesn't feature grand castles or fortresses, its charm lies in its natural beauty and tranquil atmosphere. Nearby attractions are plentiful: the medieval town of Abbadia San Salvatore with its ancient Abbey of the Holy Savior, the peak of Monte Amiata for hiking and skiing, and the picturesque towns of the Val d'Orcia, a UNESCO World Heritage site, such as Pienza, Montalcino, and Bagno Vignoni. The area is also famous for its culinary events, celebrating local products like chestnuts, mushrooms, and olive oil throughout the year.
