The Church of Santa Maria di Antico is a small gem nestled in the rural landscape of Maiolo. Despite its modest size, the church is renowned for the quality of the artwork it preserves. The most notable element is undoubtedly the Madonna with Child, a sculpture in glazed terracotta (maiolica), typical of the famous Florentine workshop of the Della Robbia family. This work, due to its dating and style, has been linked to masters such as Luca or Andrea Della Robbia and constitutes a rare and precious example of Tuscan Renaissance art in the Romagna region.
