Adam's Rock, Chiusi della Verna
In the central section of the fresco of the Creation of Adam (on the Sistine Chapel ceiling), Adam's still inert body lies limply on a rock formation. According to local tradition and some studies, the shape of this rock painted by Michelangelo and, in some interpretations, the profile of Mount La Verna rising in the background, bear a striking resemblance to the boulders or mountain profile visible from Chiusi della Verna.
